Joining The Club...

...the club of Independent Sitters!!!

Whoo-hoo! So proud of you Bennett!

He's still a little wobbly and of course can't get himself back into a sitting position but he can play for a decent amount of time without toppling over. Bennett is 8 months today and I think he has his first tooth coming in! It's on the top, which I think is common among kids with DS-not sure though??

He's been rolling around like crazy, across the room and gets very upset if something stops him from his rolling, like a chair or a table-so funny! He's addicted to his thumb and is grunting a lot-not sure what that's all about but he also likes to babble mamama, dadada and bababa. Bennett has also been pulling his knees up under his belly, now we just need to work on getting the front end up.

He likes to blow raspberries and is starting to imitate us when we make sounds or do silly things with our mouth. He loves the song "Rock-a-bye-baby" and knows when you're getting to the end where he "falls", he gets this big grin right before the song gets to the end-I love it!

He's still just as sweet as he can be and I'm enjoying this baby stage for as long as I can!

  8. Good Job Bennett!!! Keep up the good work. Again, he's sooooooooooooooo cute! Love looking at his pretty little face. I hope that doesn't offend you, me calling your boy pretty. But, man, he really is a pretty baby! Once he is no longer a baby...I'll change the word pretty to handsome!

  9. How awesome! I can't believe how fast they learn to do things. Shame on all the horrible books that put limits on these amazing kids. Way to go Bennett!

  12. That brings back memories. I could put Rachel in the sitting position and she could sit for a while. The funny thing was that she could not get out of the sitting position without falling over. She would start fussing and looking at me to see if I was going to help! Congrats Bennett!

  18. Hi Adrienne,
Thank you for your comment on my blog. Yes, I was referring to your post as I read your blog regularly. I think it also caught me offguard that Bennett even had heart surgery and still is ahead of the game in gross motor. I often hear that slows progress.

I know Nate will sit eventually and I just need to get over the comparison game early on or it will be a very long road ahead.

It's all about trusting God, isn't it!?

Congrats on Bennett's success and I look forward to sharing many more with you in the future!

  26. Yay Bennett! Every kid's time line is soo different ... Payton was sitting unassisted at like 5-6 months, but she never did get a tooth until she was like 12 months! Oh, and yeah -- hers was on top too ... and it was almost like a half moon coming through, like rounded. So strange. LOL
